With two more stops on our must-see list and time counting down to our flight out of Dublin, it was time to strategize to maximize. An inquiry with our lovely B&B host quickly dismissed any notions of squeezing the scenic drive around the Ring of Kerry and a stop in Galaway into the same day. Not about to sacrifice either, we decided to divide and conquer.
We set out for the Ring of Kerry knowing that it would be majestic. But we were unprepared for the splendid glory that awaited us. Winding along the Atlantic coast the landscape shifted as the weather changed, revealing a rocky barren rise of rolling hills that were made more beautiful by the juxtoposition of the lush green flora against the cold grey ocean raging against the shore. The drive around this magical ring inspired me to concluded that if I ever move to Ireland it will be essential to purchase a white horse, equip it with a unicorn horn, dress myself as a grossly oversized leprichan and spend my days galavanting around this enchanted peninsula.
