Kutna Hora, Czech Republic

Wanting to experience more of the Czech Republic than just Prague, we went out on a limb and booked a tour to Kutna Hora. Kutna Hora is small town built around silver mines about an hour outside of Prague by mini-bus.

The first stop on the tour was "The Bone Church"; much like the name implies it was a church decorated with the bones of tens of thousands of people.  Many of the individuals that found their final resting place in the Chapel of All Saints were victims of the Plague.  The intent of the decor was to remind the living of the fragility of life and that in death we are indistinguishable from one another, class, wealth, education, accomplishment is irrelevant when all that remains are bones.

Our tour continued through the town center of Kutna Hora, through the cathedral, and was rounded out by a lunch of traditional Czech food. Goulash is quickly growing on me!
