Prague, Czech Republic

When the time came to decide our next destination we narrowed our options down to Copenhagen Denmark, or Prague my inner emo-art-geek was campagning hard for the dark moody mystery of the Czech Republic.  While Denmark would have been an adventure in my personal heritage, the art, history, and enigma of Prague proved to be everything I expected and so much more.

We landed in Prague around 9:30 PM and made our way to the hotel via public transportation.  as we emerged from the metro tunnel I was a bit disapointed by what my eyes beheld, instead of the epic architechture and gothic art I was expecting we were greeted by block after block of bland looking buildings.  Advertisements were strung over the street like a massive twitter feed of consumerism.  Having landed so late we headed straight to bed, tired and a little disappointed.

The disapointment of the night before quickly evaporated when I was slaped in the face by the spectacular beauty of the Charles Bridge and the Prague castle.  My eyes swelled with tears as the sting from the splendor splap settled in.  I have never seen such magnificent displays of art intersecting with architecture, all complimented by the most stunning shifting light that causes the city to blush a different shade of beatiful by the passing moment.

Every corner and alley way seemed to hold a new suprise, one of my favorites of these suprises was a small market that felt a little off the beaten path.  It was a collection of food and beverage vendors all offing an assortment of local specialties.  We sampled everything from dark local beer to potato pasta with kraut and ham to the most amazing mulled wine I have ever had.
